On the box

Do you remember Alias? I feel it is somewhat forgotten these days. It was devised and produced by J J Abrams, starred Jennifer Garner, Victor Garber and Bradley Cooper before he was a superstar.

Garner plays a sightly girly (she’s often going out with her room mate to choose wedding dresses) agent who thinks she is working for the CIA but is actually working for an organisation of real baddies. So she turns double agent, joining her dad.

It looks dated. There’s all this fancy technology that is clearly nonsense, but the actual tech they use, like mobile phones, look very old (of course, they were).

I think that once a week the silly plots would be fine, but watching back-to-back episodes gets a bit grating and unbelievable. Like most of these, watching multiple episodes in a short time exposes plot holes galore.

My memory is that it got better, and weirder, and I do remember how it ended, so I will keep at it for now. Anyway, it’s pretty mindless.
